Police sought the public’s assistance Tuesday in identifying the arson suspect who set fire to an apartment building under construction in Chinatown.

The fire at the three-story apartment building was reported around 3:43 a.m. on Saturday in the 700 block of New Depot Street, near the Arroyo Seco (110) Parkway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Four other residential structures were also exposed to the fire, prompting an evacuation order for the community.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, a woman sustained burns to her arms and hands, and an elderly person was evaluated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remained under an ongoing investigation Tuesday evening.

“The LAFD Arson/Counter-Terrorism Section is assisting LAPD with the origin and cause of the fire. LAPD’s Major Crimes Division is the lead entity in this incident,” the police department said in a statement.

Anyone with information regarding the alleged arson was urged to call LAPD Major Crimes Detective Allen or Detective Nunez at 213-486-7260. Calls during non-business hours or weekends should be made to 877-527-3247. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
