A pair of fires broke out in the South Los Angeles area Thursday, and a person was taken into custody on suspicion of arson.
Firefighters responded Thursday afternoon to two fires near the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The first fire was reported around 4:47 p.m. in the 11700 block of South Stanford Avenue, where fire crews worked to extinguish flames burning less than an acre of vegetation, apparently beginning as a rubbish fire. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, at least one person was arrested and booked on suspicion of arson.
A second rubbish fire was being fought near Vermont Avenue and the 105 Freeway, reported around 5:05 p.m., although it was unclear if that fire was connected to the other.
No further information was available.
