A 22-year-old man was charged Thursday with fatally stabbing his roommate in Irvine.
Zackery Dean Hinkle was charged with murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Hinkle is accused of killing 53-year-old Terry Rahmatulla Tuesday.
Police were dispatched at 6:21 a.m. Tuesday to a single-family home at 55 Fortuna East, according to Irvine police Sgt. Karie Davies.
Hinkle, who lived in the residence, told officers he got into a fight with his roommate when the stabbing happened, police said.
The two had been embroiled in an ongoing dispute over the last few days, police said. The nature of the dispute was unclear.
