A suspect allegedly assaulted a man Saturday morning and then barricaded himself at a location in Long Beach, where a SWAT team is now at the scene, authorities said.
Paramedics rushed the victim, suffering from an injury to the upper body, to a hospital, the Long Beach Police Department reported. His condition was not immediately known.
Officers responding about 5:35 a.m. to a report of an assault in the 1700 block of Magnolia Avenue, contacted the victim.
“Preliminary investigation suggests the victim and a male adult suspect were involved in an altercation when the suspect assaulted the victim and barricaded himself,” according to a police statement.
A perimeter was established and a SWAT team was dispatched to the scene.
“The incident is active and the investigation in on going,” according to the statement.
