A man was found dead on the Arroyo Seco Parkway Saturday near Highland Park and authorities are investigating the cause of his death.

California Highway Patrol officers were called at approximately 1:28 a.m. to the southbound parkway near the Avenue 43 exit where officers found the victim lying in one of the lanes, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

It was unclear whether the man was struck by a vehicle.

A SigAlert closing the Numbers 2 and 3 lanes of the southbound highway at 2:10 a.m., was cancelled at 4:41 a.m.

There was no other immediate information available.
