A 31-year-old homeless man killed in a hit-and-run crash on the Arroyo Seco Parkway near Highland Park was identified Tuesday.

California Highway Patrol officers were called at approximately 1:28 a.m. Saturday to the southbound parkway near the Avenue 43 exit, where officers found the victim lying in one of the lanes, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

“Preliminary investigation determined the collision was a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian and an unknown vehicle,” CHP Officer M. Reyes Lopez said. “As a result of the collision, the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on scene.”

He was later identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Christopher King.
