Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau have surrounded a house in Compton, attempting to coax the armed, barricaded suspect inside to surrender.
Special Enforcement Bureau personnel were sent to the 1400 block of 131st Street around 5 p.m. Wednesday in response to reports regarding an armed individual, according to the department.
It was unclear what motivated the man to barricade himself, and nearby homes were under an evacuation for safety precaution.
“SEB personnel will assume tactical command and the Crisis Negotiation Team is attempting to make contact with the suspect to bring this to a peaceful conclusion,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
Anyone with information regarding the barricaded suspect was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
