A 76-year-old man killed in a two-vehicle crash in Acton was identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The crash occurred at 6:27 p.m. Monday and California Highway Patrol officers were called to Sierra Highway and San Gabriel Avenue where they found the victims and a dark-colored pickup truck that split a white Nissan Sentra in half, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.

He was later identified by the medical examiner as Roderick Thomas.

The second victim, the driver of the pickup, whose name, age and gender were not immediately known, was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition, Lough said.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
