Personnel from Special Enforcement Bureau of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department were attempting to contact an armed arson suspect who barricaded in Palmdale Sunday.
The crime was reported around 4:50 p.m. Sunday, and SEB was assisting the sheriff’s Palmdale Station in the 38000 block of 17th Street East, south of East Palmdale Boulevard.
Residents from the surrounding houses were evacuated to safety, according to LASD.
SEB personnel were preparing to assume tactical command with Crisis Negotiation Team attempting to peacefully negotiate with the male suspect.
