A man suspected of injuring a woman during an altercation in Long Beach barricaded himself Friday, leading to an hourslong standoff with police.
Officers responded to the 1900 block of Long Beach Boulevard shortly after 11:00 a.m. to a report of an injured woman who had argued with the suspect, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
It was unclear what led up to the dispute, and the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by paramedics.
“SWAT has been activated and is on scene. The incident is still active, and the investigation is ongoing,” police told City News Service.
