A South Gate man has been sentenced to 15 years to life in state prison and ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life in connection with his no contest plea to sex abuse charges involving two young boys, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.
Andrew Louie Sandoval, now 28, pleaded no contest Wednesday to two felony counts of oral copulation with a child 10 or younger, the D.A.’s Office said.
Sandoval — who is also facing a 10-year stay-away protective order involving the two boys — has remained behind bars since he was arrested July 25 by South Gate police.
The case against him was filed the following week, involving two boys between the ages 4 and 9, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The crimes allegedly occurred in Los Angeles County in 2015 and earlier this year.
The District Attorney’s Office said in August that Sandoval had a work history at dozens of schools and child care centers, but authorities said the two victims were not related to his work.
The case stemmed from an investigation by the South Gate and Los Angeles police departments.
“While the legal process has reached a conclusion, it is important to recognize that no sentence can truly remedy the deep and lasting trauma of what these victims have experienced,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. “To the courageous young survivors, we offer our heartfelt compassion. Your bravery is a powerful step toward healing, and we stand with you in your journey.”
