A woman was killed when the car she was driving “at a high rate of speed” crashed into a utility pole in Long Beach, police said Thursday.
Officers were sent to the area of Spring Street and Studebaker Road about 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
“Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had struck a utility pole,” police said in a statement. “Officers then located a female adult driver inside the vehicle.”
The woman died at the scene, police said. Information on her identity was not immediately available.
“The preliminary investigation revealed a 2024 BMW 440i was traveling eastbound on Spring Street at a high rate of speed,” the police statement said. “The vehicle then lost control and collided with a utility pole. At this time, speed is being investigated as a factor in the collision.”
