A Lancaster woman suspected of ramming a large work truck taken from a construction site into the side of a duplex is in police custody Monday, authorities said.
The incident occurred at about 2:45 a.m. Monday when deputies received a call of a woman ”intentionally” ramming a work truck into the side of a residential building in the 4500 block of Redwood Avenue in Lancaster, according to the Lancaster Sheriff’s station.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies encountered a woman inside a large work truck that had crashed into the side of a duplex apartment complex. The work truck had been allegedly stolen, but where it was taken from was unclear, a watch commander from the sheriff’s station told City News Service.
For about one hour the woman refused to come out of the truck, while keeping the vehicle in reverse to prevent deputy intervention, according to a statement from the incident.
The woman surrendered shortly after deputies shot pepper balls into the cabin of the truck, according to the statement.
One resident said that the woman did live at the complex where the incident happened, the statement said.
The circumstances that prompted the woman to crash the truck into the residence was unclear. The woman involved in the incident has not been identified.
The type of truck involved in the incident was also unclear.
