The second of two men who were shot to death at a house party in Hawthorne was identified Wednesday.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office identified the second victim as Juan Lopez, 29. On Monday, the county medical examiner’s office identified the first man as Joe Reyes Vasquez.

The shooting occurred at about 2:10 a.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of West El Segundo Boulevard, between Prairie Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A suspect entered the rear yard of a home, where the party was occurring, and began shooting, authorities said. Both victims were struck by gunfire and the suspect fled the backyard in an unknown direction.

Hawthorne Police Department officers dispatched to the scene made entry to the rear yard and located the shooting victims. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

No further information, including the possible motive and suspect description, was immediately available.
