Several Jewish-owned businesses in the Pico-Robertson area were vandalized Tuesday, prompting a hate-crime investigation.
Officers responded around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday to calls of potential hate crimes in the 8700 block of Pico Boulevard, an area home to many synagogues, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“The initial call was reported as a hate crime, where businesses in the community were vandalized with graffiti and possible bullet holes,” a public information officer with the department told City News Service.
Jeffrey I. Abrams, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League Los Angeles, said in a statement the organization is “aware that several businesses in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood have been vandalized. Ad of now, it appears the majority of the businesses are Jewish-owned. ADL is in contact with the LAPD.”
The ADL urged any victims to contact the LAPD.
“ADL will be monitoring the situation and publicly sharing information throughout the day,” Abrams said.
