A 56-year-old man suspected of involvement in a transnational drug trafficking operation has been captured, FBI officials announced Friday.
Joel Sosa Cardenas was being sought for allegedly orchestrating an operation in hundreds of kilograms of cocaine were shipped from Colombia through Mexico and Southern California to Canada and other locations within the United States, according to the FBI.
A federal arrest warrant was issued Sept. 17 for Cardenas by a federal judge in Los Angeles.
No details were released about where or when Cardenas was captured.
FBI officials said Cardenas faces charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, conspiracy to export cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a firearm.
