A 36-year-old woman was struck and killed when she stepped into traffic on the west end of Hemet, authorities said Wednesday.
Rose Dattoli of Hemet was fatally injured at 6:33 p.m. Sunday on Stetson Avenue, near California Avenue, in the area of the Santiago Palm Vista Mobile Home Park, according to the Hemet Police Department.
The agency said Dattoli “entered the roadway for unknown reasons” where there was no marked crosswalk or traffic signal and was hit by a vehicle, whose driver immediately stopped and called 911.
Hemet Fire Department paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced Dattoli dead at the scene.
“Reckless driving is not suspected,” the police department stated.
The motorist, whose identity was not disclosed, was questioned but not arrested.
