Police are continuing their investigation Friday of a driver who was arrested while in possession of a firearm in Long Beach.
Long Beach Police Department officers stopped the suspect who was driving a vehicle at 7:56 p.m. Wednesday near the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Reservoir Drive and during their investigation, recovered a firearm, police said. The driver, who officers learned was a prohibited possessor, was arrested at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
Prohibited possessors include those who have been convicted of felonies and certain misdemeanors, those who are addicted to narcotics, are subject to a domestic violence restraining order, are a mentally disordered sex offender and people who have been found mentally incompetent to stand trial.
