A fire that erupted Thursday in a Jurupa Valley home caused major damage, displacing the two occupants, neither of whom was injured.

The blaze was reported just after 8 a.m. Thursday at 11629 Holmes Ave., near Smith Avenue, on the extreme west end of the city, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered smoke billowing from the single-story residence.

Crews got the fire under control within an hour. However, the damage was extensive, according to officials at the scene.

Red Cross personnel were requested to assist the two adult occupants with finding temporary alternate lodgings.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
