A 35-year-old man with felony convictions pleaded guilty Thursday and was sentenced to a year in jail for stabbing a man and boy as they resisted an attempted robbery of a scooter in Anaheim.

Emmanuel Lucino Garcia pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, both felonies, according to court records. As part of the plea deal, charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon were dismissed along with robbery and sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury.

Garcia was accused of attempting to steal a scooter and when the victim and his relative tried to get it back the defendant stabbed both of them about 10:45 p.m. Sept. 27 at 2916 W. Lincoln Ave., near Beach Boulevard, according to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Matt Sutter.

Garcia pleaded guilty in November 2019 to leading police on a chase and car theft, both felonies, according to court records.
