A fire that broke out Thursday in a Moreno Valley home injured the occupant and caused significant damage to the upper half of the structure.
The blaze was reported shortly before 9 a.m. in the 11000 block of Sunglow Drive, near Summerfield Drive, on the east end of the city, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered “heavy fire through the roof” of the single-story house.
Firefighters located the occupant at the scene, suffering from smoke inhalation injuries. The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center for treatment and was expected to fully recover.
The blaze was completely contained within an hour, according to officials. Neighboring properties were not impacted.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
