Los Angeles Fire Department authorities Thursday are investigating a fire in the Kirkwood Bowl neighborhood of the Hollywood Hills West area where a man died.

Fire crews responded to 8551 Lookout Mountain Avenue, east of Crescent Drive and at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday after they received a call regarding a fire at the two-story, hillside residence. Upon their arrival, firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby vegetation or residential structures, said LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

During a search of the home after the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the body of a man, Humphrey said.

“During fire attack, one person was discovered deceased and remains at the scene,” the fire department said in a statement.

KABC 7 reported neighbors told them the victim was a member of the millionaire Rothschild banking family..

It took 45 firefighters 33 minutes to extinguish the flames.

The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team was summoned to provide emotional support and assistance to the decedent’s family and neighbors, fire authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under an active and joint investigation by the fire department and the Los Angeles Police Department.
