A 55-year-old woman who was hit by a vehicle and killed in the Lancaster area has been identified, authorities said Wednesday.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified the victim as Lashon Bailey.
The crash occurred at about 7:40 p.m. Monday at Avenue J and Dale Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a white Honda was traveling westbound on Avenue J while the pedestrian was walking southbound across Avenue J in an unmarked crosswalk,” a sheriff’s department statement said.
“At this time, it is unknown if the driver or the pedestrian had the right of away,” the statement said. “It is unknown if alcohol, drugs or speed played a factor in this crash.”
