A pedestrian was killed Thursday after being struck by a vehicle near Monterey Park.
The collision was reported at 1:31 a.m. and California Highway Patrol officers were called to the connector road from the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway and the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway where they found the victim, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
The pedestrian, whose name, gender and age were not immediately known, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A SigAlert was issued by the CHP for the closure of three lanes for the connector road from the westbound 10 freeway and the southbound 710 freeway for two hours while they investigated the cause of the crash.
