A suspect was arrested Friday in connection with an armed robbery in Hacienda Heights following a search by authorities that included the closure of a section of the nearby Pomona (60) Freeway.
Deputies were sent to the 1100 block of Seventh Avenue about 6:50 a.m. Friday “regarding a person with a gun,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“The location — formerly the Motel 6 — is currently being renovated for temporary housing assistance,” a sheriff’s department statement said.
“Upon arrival, deputies heard several gunshots coming from the area,” the statement said. “During the investigation, they learned that an armed robbery had occurred at the location. A containment was immediately established of the surrounding area.”
No injuries were reported, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputies requested assistance from the sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau and the California Highway Patrol, and law enforcement personnel began searching for the suspect.
During the search, a section of the Pomona Freeway was closed as a precaution.
The suspect was arrested about 8:15 a.m., and the roadways were reopened. The name of the suspect was not immediately available.
