Three motorists were arrested for driving under the influence and 28 drivers were cited for operating a motor vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license during a DUI/driver’s license inspection in Pomona Saturday.

The checkpoint was held at Mission Boulevard and San Antonio Avenue between the hours of 9 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, the Pomona Police Department reported.

In addition to those arrested and cited, 997 vehicles were screened at the checkpoint and 12 were impounded, according to police.

DUI checkpoints are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests. In 2023, Pomona police investigated 100 DUI collisions that resulted in two deaths and 60 injured people, police said.

Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to be approximately $13,500. This includes fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses, as well as possible jail time.
