The death of a woman whose body was found Sunday at the site of a brush fire in Long Beach is being investigated as a homicide.
Police and Long Beach Fire Department personnel were called at approximately 4:24 a.m. Sunday to Second Street and the San Gabriel River regarding a brush fire, according to the Long Beach Police Department. When they arrived, firefighters extinguished the fire and discovered the body of a woman, police said.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
