A robbery suspect was taken into custody Saturday after a seven-hour barricade inside a Culver City garage.

A Culver City Police Department watch commander told City News Service that the suspect robbed a Shell gas station at 10332 Culver Blvd.

The robbery occurred at 8:57 a.m. Saturday, police said.

A victim at the business was treated at the scene for injuries not believed life threatening, police said.

Officers quickly set up a perimeter and spotted the suspect in the area of Jasmine Avenue and Braddock Drive.

He barricaded himself inside a detached garage on the 4100 block of Jasmine Avenue, police said. The residents of the home got out safely.

The Crisis Negotiation Team, Drone Team and K-9 Unit were all summoned to the scene along with additional officers from Culver City and surrounding areas, officials said.

Seven hours of negotiations led the suspect to come out of the garage and he was taken into custody, officials said.

At 4:05 p.m., the department announced that, “Police activity, including drone use, in the area of Jasmine Avenue and Braddock Drive has concluded.”
