An armed man wanted for assault who is also a kidnapping suspect was barricaded at a home in Carson, authorities said Wednesday.
By 6 a.m. Wednesday, SEB updated that the operation had been concluded, but it was unclear whether the suspect was in custody.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau responded at 11 p.m. Tuesday to the 21800 block of Water Street, south of Carson Street, to assist deputies from the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station with the barricaded suspect, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the sheriff’s department told City News Service.
SEB personnel assumed tactical command and a crisis negotiation team attempted to make contact with the suspect in an effort to bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion, the department said.
The surrounding neighborhood that had been evacuated for the safety of the residents, was deemed safe and evacuees were allowed to return to their homes.
Anyone with information about this standoff was asked to contact the Lakewood Station at 562-623-3500. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
