Fire crews were called to investigate a possible hazardous materials situation Monday in Wilmington after a drum of unknown substance fell from a train, authorities said.
Crews responded around 11:30 a.m. Monday to the 900 block of West Harry Bridges Boulevard, near South Figueroa Street, where the drum became dislodged from a shipping container, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“The drum subsequently rolled out of container coming to rest on the ground adjacent to the rail container,” LAFD’s Jennifer Middleton said in a statement.
Hazmat units determined the container was intact with no leaks, fire officials said.
Additional Los Angeles County Fire Department crews were released, and industrial personnel were working to secure and upright the drum.
Fire crews remained on scene to monitor the situation.
No injuries were reported.
