A fire that broke out Thursday in a Winchester park burned less than a quarter-acre before it was knocked down.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 4:05 p.m. in Abelia Sports Park, near the intersection of Abelia Street and Highway 79, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames in the middle of the park, not threatening any structures.
Firefighters quickly deployed hoses and got a line around the fire within 15 minutes. By 4:35 p.m., it was completely under control.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
