A man and a woman are in police custody Saturday after they led police on a chase that ended in Long Beach.

It was unclear why the pursuit began on Friday evening, but the two, who NBC4 reported were robbery suspects, traversed several cities in the South Bay as they drove a silver Mercedes-Benz erratically and at high speeds as they evaded pursuing Los Angeles Police Department officers.

CBS2 reported the suspect driving the Mercedes-Benz almost crashed into other cars on several occasions, sped through intersections and ran red lights during the pursuit.

Around 7:35 p.m. Friday, the suspect got onto the southbound Santa Monica (405) Freeway, where they reached speeds up to 120 miles per hour, while swerving around other cars.

The suspects exited the car in the Wrigley neighborhood in Long Beach and fled on foot, according to CBS 2. Both the driver and passenger were arrested by police after a foot chase.

CBS2 reported the female passenger was arrested for attempted robbery, while the man was booked for felony evading.
