A 21-year-old man who was fatally shot and found inside a tent near Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles was identified Thursday.

Dallan Louis was described by authorities as homeless at the time of the shooting. He died at the scene, according to Los Angeles city officials.

Los Angeles Police officers were called to the 600 block of Maple Avenue, at Sixth Street, at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday regarding shots fired.

When they arrived, officers were directed to a tent, where they found Louis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

Personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

The motive for the shooting was under investigation.
