Police were investigating an early morning shooting that fatally injured a man in Van Nuys Sunday, authorities said.
Around 5:35 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired near the 16100 block of Leadwell Street at the intersection of Woodley Avenue, west of San Diego (405) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers found one male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound at the scene and transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim’s identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A description of the suspect was unavailable, police said.
