A homeless man in his late 60s was struck by a vehicle on a major Santa Monica street and was expected to survive his injuries, authorities said Monday.
The crash occurred at about 8:25 p.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Wilshire Boulevard, just east of the intersection with Chelsea Avenue, Santa Monica police Lt. Erika R. Aklufi told City News Service.
Paramedics took the injured man to a hospital where he had stable vital signs and was expected to survive, Aklufi said.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the man remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation, she said. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor and the investigation continued.
The crash is at the same intersection where a woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash Dec. 22. A suspect was arrested in that case.
