Firefighters waged a 41-minute battle with flames that damaged a four-plex in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles Friday.

The fire was reported at 5:39 a.m. at 2268 W. 15th St., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. The flames were out at 6:20 a.m.

Flames were showing from the first floor when firefighters arrived, Stewart said.

“Firefighters located fire in the walls which extended up through the second floor to the attic,” she said.

Overhaul was underway to look for smoldering areas that could re-ignite, Stewart said. No injuries were reported.
