A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Lancaster Monday.

Deputies responded to the area near Sierra Highway and Lancaster Boulevard around 5:45 p.m. Monday to reports regarding a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian, according to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

Investigators determined after a preliminary investigation that a woman driving a blue sedan was traveling north on Sierra Highway moments before hitting a pedestrian crossing from the west to the east side of Sierra Highway, north of Lancaster Boulevard.

The victim sustained significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.

It was unclear if the driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies during their investigation.
