A 48-year-old pedestrian who was killed after being struck by a gray Volkswagen in Compton was identified by county authorities Saturday.
The victim, Valvina Leal, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at 12:43 a.m. Friday to Rosecrans and Aprilia avenues, where they found the victim, now known as Leal, and the vehicle in the truck lane on Rosecrans, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
