Five people, at least four of them Chilean nationals, were arrested in connection with a series of residential burglaries across the state, police announced Wednesday.
Matias Jesus Soto-Barraza, a 22-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was taken into custody Jan. 16 by Glendale police.
On the same day, Beverly Hills police arrested three additional suspects believed to be tied to the same burglary crew. They were identified as 29-year-old Joaquin Vergara-Contreras, 30-year-old Elias Moncada Reyes, and 43-year-old Juan Antonio Silva Loaeza, according to Glendale police.
Glendale police said those four suspects were all Chilean nationals.
A fifth suspect, identified as 30-year-old Leidy Dayana Manrique, was in custody in Ventura County in connection with related charges, according to Beverly Hills police.
Investigators recovered cell phones, signal jammers, firearms, jewelry, and other various luxury items during the execution of the search warrants. Police said detectives have linked the crew to residential burglaries in Glendale, Beverly Hills, San Marino, Los Angeles, Burbank, Bakersfield, Ventura County, Orange County and San Mateo County.
“This investigation is ongoing. Detectives will be working with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to assist in the successful prosecution of these individuals,” police said in a statement.
