Authorities sought the public’s help Wednesday in identifying a 30-year-old man suspected of stabbing a woman in the East Hollywood area.

The stabbing was reported on Jan. 18, around noon, near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Edgemont Street, close to the Vermont/Santa Monica Metro station, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A man approached the victim from behind, stabbed her twice while she was walking with two other people, then fled east on Santa Monica Boulevard to the Metro station, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of an injury that was described as non-life-threatening.

The suspect was described as about 5-feet-6-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
