Police Thursday are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash west of Koreatown.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to 1548 S. Gramercy Place, north of Venice Boulevard, regarding reports of a vehicle hitting a male pedestrian at 9:02 p.m. Wednesday.

A light-colored SUV or crossover vehicle was westbound on Venice Boulevard when it struck a man crossing Venice on St. Andrews Place within a marked crosswalk, according to an LAPD news statement.

The vehicle continued northbound on Gramercy. Paramedics rushed the pedestrian to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Witnesses told arriving officers the vehicle was driving east on Venice, made a left turn and struck the victim without stopping, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

Anyone with any information regarding the crash was urged to call LAPD West Traffic Bureau detectives at 213-473-0234, or during non-business hours or weekends at 877-527-3247.
