A man suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his lower body while seated in his vehicle in Long Beach, authorities said Thursday.

Officers were dispatched about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday to the scene of the shooting in the 1700 block of Chestnut Avenue, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

“The victim was in his vehicle when he heard presumed gunfire coming from an unknown direction, and subsequently, he noticed he had been shot,” according to a police statement.

Paramedics transported the man to a hospital and no other injuries were reported.

The circumstances of the shooting, motive and suspect information were under investigation.
