Firefighters were able to knock down a fire at an apartment building Wednesday in Stanton but were unable to rescue a family pet.
Fire crews were called at 12:22 a.m. Wednesday to the 8900 block of Pacific Avenue where they found flames coming from one unit at the apartment complex and were able to extinguish the fire, the Orange County Fire Authority reported.
After the fire was knocked down, firefighters began a search of the apartment and found the dog, but it did not survive the fire, the authority said.
The fire was knocked down in 25 minutes and crews were able to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent units, authorities said.
Fire investigators are at the scene and are investigating cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
