A 19-year-old man who was shot and killed while sitting inside a vehicle in Compton was identified Thursday.
Deputies responded around 10:20 p.m. on Jan. 29 to reports of shots fired in the 2200 block of East Rosecrans Avenue, between Long Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. They found the victim in the driver’s seat with gunshot wounds, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.
The Los Angeles County Office of the Medical Examiner later identified the man as Matthew Alvarado, whose death resulted from a gunshot wound to the head.
