A woman was shot by Los Angeles police Friday after officers responded to a call of a possible kidnapping attempt in the Pacoima area, authorities said.

Officers arrived at the 10000 block of San Fernando Road around 9:40 a.m. Friday, where they found a woman — believed to be the initial caller — armed with a knife, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The woman was advised to drop the weapon but refused and began advancing toward officers, police said.

“At this time an officer-involved shooting occurred,” police said in a statement.

The woman was struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital in unknown condition.

No officers were injured, and police did not release a description of the woman.

The LAPD Force Investigation Division was continuing to investigate the shooting Friday afternoon.

Traffic was expected to be impacted on San Fernando Road between Terra Bella and Glamis Street for several hours, police said.
