Police sought the public’s assistance Wednesday in locating a suspected hit-and-run driver of a pickup truck that severely injured a motorcyclist in Long Beach.

Officers responded to Pacific Avenue and Seventh Street around 6:05 p.m. Friday to reports about a collision involving a Honda motorcycle and a black Chevrolet pickup truck, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

After further investigation, detectives determined that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Pacific Avenue moments before the pickup truck, traveling westbound on Seventh Street, collided with the motorcycle without stopping, then turned northbound onto Cedar Avenue.

“It is unclear at this time which vehicle had the right-of-way,” police said in a statement.

Paramedics arrived at the location shortly after the collision and took the motorcyclist to a hospital for severe injuries, where he was listed in critical condition.

Detectives described the suspect’s pickup truck as a newer model black Chevrolet with 4×4 decals on the panel above both rear tires with possible front-end damage.

Anyone with additional information was urged to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7335. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
