A 63-year-old convicted sex offender was behind bars Wednesday on charges of sexually assaulting an underage girl in Garden Grove.
Robert Rudy Salinas was charged Feb. 4 with lewd act on a child, meeting a minor to commit lewd conduct and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex offense, all felonies.
He is accused of assaulting the victim on New Year’s Day.
Salinas pleaded not guilty Feb. 4 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana and was next due in court March 4 for a bail review hearing at the West Justice Center in Westminster.
Salinas was convicted in June 2007 of lewd or lascivious acts on a minor, according to the criminal complaint. He appeared on TV personality Chris Hansen’s “To Catch a Predator” show in 2007.
Salinas’ attorney, Matthew Blake Wallin, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
