Firefighters traced smoke coming from a Vermont Square house to the crawlspace beneath it, where they put out a fire Friday.
The fire was first reported around 9 a.m. Friday at 454 W. 41st Place, just west of the Harbor (110) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Lyndsey Lantz.
Light smoke was showing from the two-story home when firefighters arrived, Lantz said. They had the fire out within 18 minutes.
Firefighters remained on the scene to make sure the fire did not spread elsewhere, she said.
