Police Saturday are continuing their investigation of a shootout between officers from multiple departments and an armed suspect in Hawthorne.
Hawthorne Police Department officers responded to El Segundo Boulevard and Prairie Avenue near Hawthorne Memorial Park at 9:45 p.m. Friday regarding a shots fired call. CBS2 reported police and the suspect exchanged gunfire before the suspect ran into a nearby neighborhood.
Officers from the Gardena and Redondo Beach police departments joined Hawthorne police in the search for the suspect and a perimeter near a mini-mart at 12845 Prairie Ave. was established.
It was not known how the shootout began, which police agencies were involved or whether anyone was wounded.
