A boy riding a pocket bike was struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle Sunday morning in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of San Pedro and 99th streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The boy was riding northbound on San Pedro Street when he was struck by a dark-colored Toyota Corolla that was also going northbound, police said.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene. Police had no approximate age for him.
The motorist got out the car and fled the scene on foot. He was described as a heavy-set man in his 20s, but no further description was immediately available.
